Lipoamide-PEG-Mal is a lipoic acid PEG derivative that can be used to formulate drug delivery vehicles. PEGylation increases water solubility, enhances biocompatibility, and prevents opsonization in vivo. The maleimide moiety can be used to conjugate molecules for targeted drug delivery by forming a thioether linkage.
